According to the report, homelessness in Austin rose by 10 percent from 2016 to 2017. This increase is likely due to the city’s current economic conditions and increasing demand for affordable housing.

The report also found that the majority of homeless individuals in Austin are people of color. These individuals are more likely to experience homelessness due to a lack of available affordable housing, discrimination, and poverty.

Austin Mayor Steve Adler said that the city is working hard to address the increase in homelessness. The city is currently working on a plan aimed at addressing the issue head-on.
